The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has restructured its Organizing Committee, renaming it as the “Local Organizing Committee for Football Events” and appointing AFC Asian Cup 2023 CEO Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim as its Chief Executive Officer. This reformation expands the committee’s responsibilities beyond the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, entrusting it with overseeing key international football tournaments hosted by Qatar for the next decade. This includes prestigious tournaments such as the 2024 Intercontinental Cup, the Arab Cup scheduled for 2025, 2029, and 2031, and the FIFA U-17 World Cup tournaments from 2025 through 2029.

The QFA’s decision to restructure the committee demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to solidifying its position as a global hub for football events, ensuring world-class organization and delivery of highly anticipated competitions. The first major task for the restructured QFA body will be to deliver three FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024 matches, including the final scheduled for December 18. This tournament was announced in December last year and will replace the annual Club World Cup, which will now be held every four years with the participation of 32 teams starting in 2025.

H E Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani will continue to lead the QFA’s body for major football tournaments, showcasing Qatar’s dedication to excellence in hosting international football events. The QFA’s focus on expanding the committee’s responsibilities and overseeing various prestigious tournaments highlights Qatar’s ambition to showcase its capabilities as a top destination for football competitions. With a decade-long oversight of key international football tournaments, Qatar is positioning itself as a key player in the global football community.

The strategic decision by the QFA to entrust the restructured committee with overseeing major football events reflects Qatar’s ongoing commitment to showcasing its ability to organize and deliver top-class competitions. With a focus on ensuring the successful organization of key tournaments, including the AFC Asian Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Arab Cup, and FIFA U-17 World Cup, Qatar is proving itself as a leading host for international football events. This commitment to excellence will further enhance Qatar’s reputation as a premier destination for football competitions and cement its position as a global hub for the sport.

The appointment of Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim as the Chief Executive Officer of the restructured QFA body underlines Qatar’s emphasis on leadership and expertise in delivering major football tournaments. With his experience as the CEO of the AFC Asian Cup 2023, Al Jassim is well-equipped to lead the committee in organizing a series of prestigious events, including the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, Arab Cup, and FIFA U-17 World Cup tournaments. His leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of these tournaments and maintaining Qatar’s reputation as a top destination for football competitions.

In conclusion, the restructuring of the QFA’s Organizing Committee and the appointment of Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim as its CEO signal Qatar’s continued commitment to excellence in hosting major football tournaments. By expanding the committee’s responsibilities and overseeing key international competitions for the next decade, Qatar is solidifying its position as a global hub for football events. With a focus on delivering world-class organization and operations, Qatar is poised to showcase its capabilities as a top destination for prestigious football tournaments and further enhance its reputation in the global football community.
