Cuban Musician El Taiger Passes Away at 37 Following Miami Shooting

The death of Cuban reggaeton singer Jose Manuel Carbajal Zaldivar, known as “El Taiger,” has left the music world in mourning. Carbajal Zaldivar, who was shot in the head and hospitalized in Miami, passed away at the age of 37. A popular figure in the “urbano” genre, he was known for blending reggaeton with traditional Cuban music and songs such as “La Historia,” “Papelito” and “Habla Matador.”

The Cuban Institute of Music paid tribute to Carbajal Zaldivar, highlighting his refusal to abandon his Cuban roots and his love for his country. After spending several years based in the United States, Carbajal Zaldivar was found unconscious in a car in Miami on October 3 and was hospitalized until his passing. Miami police are currently investigating the shooting that led to his hospitalization.

Fans and fellow musicians alike have expressed their grief over the loss of Carbajal Zaldivar. Legendary Cuban band Los Van Van honored him on Instagram, remembering their shared stage performances with the singer. In Havana, a gathering was held in the Guanabacoa neighborhood to bid farewell to El Taiger, with attendees lighting candles, singing his songs, and celebrating his life as he had requested.

Carbajal Zaldivar’s family expressed their gratitude towards his medical team and all those who supported him during his hospitalization. They encouraged people to turn up the volume of his music, dance, and celebrate his life in a joyful manner. The event in Havana saw a display of love and respect for the late singer, with attendees remembering him fondly and expressing their sadness while honoring his memory.

The impact of Carbajal Zaldivar’s music and his unique blend of reggaeton with Cuban traditions has left a lasting impression on fans and the music industry. His legacy as a talented and respected artist will endure, with tributes and remembrances continuing to pour in from those who were touched by his music. As the investigation into his death continues, his family and fans are focused on honoring his memory and celebrating the life of a beloved musician who left a mark on the music world.
