The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Doha, Qatar has launched the ‘My Values Shape My Identity’ initiative, which has received a strong response from over 30,000 students in private schools in its first phase. The project aims to promote inclusive education and strengthen national identity and Qatari culture among students in private schools and kindergartens. The success of the initiative is evident in the high level of participation from students, with reports from schools indicating positive feedback and engagement.

Consultant at the Private Schools Department, Hussein Al Yafei, shared that the first phase of the project has been completed successfully, with plans to expand and improve the program in the coming phases to reach more schools. The project includes various activities such as educational competitions, drawings, plays, morning assembly activities, and storytelling to engage students and enhance their understanding of values. Schools participating in the project are required to implement the programs as they play a vital role in shaping the students’ character and values.

The ‘My Values Shape My Identity’ project is set to run for three years under the supervision of the Department of Schools and Kindergartens in the private education sector, in collaboration with the Education Center. The aim is to promote and solidify educational values among students through integrated school campaigns and activities. Specialized educational resources are provided to support teachers and students in adopting and applying values in their daily lives, which in turn helps them develop essential skills like communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

The project is rooted in Islamic and national references, with a focus on addressing educational challenges using scientific principles. Initiatives under the project vary in content and objectives, with initiatives like Aseel focusing on strengthening Islamic and national identity, Fitra promoting common sense among students, Ikhaa raising awareness on dealing with bullying, and Safe Sailing educating students on safe digitization practices. These initiatives aim to equip students with practical tools to navigate daily challenges and develop a strong sense of identity and values.

The success of the ‘My Values Shape My Identity’ project can be attributed to its holistic approach in promoting holistic education and nurturing students’ character development. By incorporating various activities and initiatives that focus on values and identity, the project creates a conducive learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging and cultural pride among students. The ongoing support and collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, schools, and educational centers ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the project in achieving its goals.

In conclusion, the ‘My Values Shape My Identity’ project in Qatar has shown promising results in its first phase, with high student participation and engagement in various activities aimed at promoting values and strengthening national identity. The project’s focus on Islamic and national references, along with its emphasis on practical skills and character development, sets it apart as a valuable initiative in enhancing the educational experience for students in private schools and kindergartens. Moving forward, the project’s expansion and improvement will continue to support teachers and students in cultivating a strong sense of identity and values that will serve them well in their personal and academic lives.
