The second edition of the Saudi Film Confex in Riyadh was recently inaugurated by Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah with the aim of making Saudi Arabia a hub for film production. The Ministry seeks to empower talents, open up horizons for strategic partnerships, and enhance the screening and distribution sector. Prince Badr emphasized the importance of the film industry as an economy that creates opportunities and stories that remain in the memory of generations. The forum is seen as an important step in enhancing creative content and developing the infrastructure of the film industry, locally and internationally.
The Saudi Film Confex brings together a group of producers, artists, specialists, and filmmakers from within the Kingdom and abroad. The event includes enriching dialogue sessions focusing on the film industry’s cultural role, economic impact, support and financing funds, as well as the integration of the film sector with other development sectors for promising growth. The forum features eight interactive areas including business consultations, audition areas, exhibition of filming destinations, cinematic arts area, ON-SET challenge, film talk, young filmmaker, and forum area in shots.
Visitors to the forum had the opportunity to explore 130 corners of participating entities in the exhibition organized on the sidelines. Local and international companies and government agencies from various sectors of the film industry met to exchange experiences, showcase their initiatives, services, and investment opportunities, with the aim of achieving integration between different sectors. The event is aimed at empowering and developing the film industry in Saudi Arabia, enhancing investment opportunities, and partnerships in line with the national cultural strategy derived from Vision 2030.
The Saudi Film Confex includes a cultural program covering more than 35 events with the participation of over 65 prominent speakers, including dialogue sessions, specialized workshops, and film talk sessions in various fields of the film industry. The second edition of the event is an extension of the success achieved by the first edition, highlighting the economic role of the growing film industry in the Kingdom and creating a capable generation that contributes to leading the future scene in the world of cinema. Prince Badr’s vision is to establish Saudi Arabia as a regional and international hub for film production, empowering talents, and creating an integrated environment that enhances the competitiveness of the seventh art globally.
