His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has recently issued two Royal decrees regarding international agreements. Royal Decree No. 42/2024 ratifies an agreement between the government of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) related to the headquarters of the GCC Supreme Council Advisory Board, the Gulf Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, and the GCC Center for Translation, Arabisation, and Promotion of Arabic. This decree ratifies the agreement attached to it and will be enforced from its date of issue.
In addition, Royal Decree No. 43/2024 ratifies an agreement to amend the protocol attached to the agreement signed in Vienna on 7 December 2016, between Oman and the International Atomic Energy Agency. This amendment is related to the application of guarantees within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The decree ratifies the amended agreement and instructs the relevant departments to deposit the ratification document as required. This decree will also be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
These Royal decrees demonstrate Oman’s commitment to fulfilling its international obligations and engaging with regional and global partners through agreements and protocols.
