His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain recently received the annual report detailing the activities of the Shura and Representatives Councils during the second session of the sixth legislative term. During a meeting with the Chairman of the Shura Council and the First Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, along with other deputy chairmen from both councils, His Majesty expressed gratitude for their dedication and efforts in serving the Kingdom and its citizens. He highlighted the pivotal role that these councils play in reinforcing the constitutional framework necessary for political and democratic initiatives.

HM King praised the significant accomplishments achieved during the second legislative session, recognizing the legislative authority’s commitment to advancing civilizational development and comprehensive growth plans. He emphasized the critical roles of the councils in legislative and supervisory capacities, noting the effective development of laws and regulations that align with the aspirations of citizens. Additionally, His Majesty acknowledged the exemplary cooperation between the executive and legislative branches in tackling current challenges and laying out future plans for progress and prosperity in Bahrain.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa also commended the contributions of Bahraini citizens in shaping the nation’s renaissance, highlighting their dedication and welcoming nature that has earned respect for Bahrainis globally. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity for all communities and disseminating a message of peace and unity among Arab, Islamic, and global populations. The King emphasized the importance of peace for the advancement of societies.

The Chairmen of the Shura and House of Representatives expressed deep appreciation for His Majesty’s support and patronage, which has led to numerous democratic and parliamentary achievements contributing to the Kingdom’s development. The annual report issued by the Shura Council includes an introduction and remarks from Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, statistical data on the council’s achievements, events surrounding the opening of the session, and election of deputy chairmen. Similarly, the report from the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives reflects a coordinated approach to parliamentary work, highlighting legislative functions, community engagement efforts, and media communication from October 8, 2023, to May 8, 2024.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives, Mr. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, provided an overview of the council’s composition and key indicators of parliamentary performance. The report detailed procedural actions taken during the opening of the second regular session, emphasizing commitment to reform and modernization in Bahrain’s national progress. It highlighted collaborative achievements of the legislative institution and the executive authority, as well as the House of Representatives’ response to the royal address and findings from investigative committees. The report also noted the active role of parliamentary diplomacy, with participation in regional and international forums and the establishment of joint parliamentary friendship committees.

Furthermore, the report underlines the House of Representatives’ dedication to community engagement through various activities and programs, reinforcing its commitment to serving the people of Bahrain. The coordinated efforts of both the Shura and Representatives Councils, along with the support and leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, are essential in advancing the democratic journey in Bahrain and promoting progress and prosperity for the nation and its people. Through collaboration and dedication, Bahrain continues to strengthen its constitutional framework and engage in meaningful legislative and supervisory activities for the betterment of society.
