The collaboration between Aspire Academy and the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) is set to revolutionize the development of young table tennis players in Asia. Princess Zeina Rashid Jordan, Chairperson of the High-Performance Development Committee at ATTU, praised Aspire Academy’s facilities and expertise in signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the academy. Ali Salem Afifa, Deputy Director of Aspire Academy, expressed pride in the collaboration and the opportunity to elevate the standards of table tennis in Qatar and Asia.

The focus of the partnership will be on developing younger players in the cadet age group to ensure they have the best chance of becoming top-class competitive players. Princess Zeina emphasized the importance of education in this process and the creation of an accessible platform for players, parents, and key stakeholders. The goal is to bridge the gap in table tennis levels across Asia and provide more opportunities for countries to compete at the highest levels globally.

Aspire Academy’s Head Table Tennis Coach, Peter Karlsson, is optimistic about the project and looks forward to hosting training camps for young players. The focus will be on smaller countries in Asia, where the potential for growth and development is significant. Khalil Al-Mohannadi, President of both ATTU and the Qatar Table Tennis Federation, believes the collaboration will benefit the sport in Asia by improving player development programs and enhancing coaching skills.

The partnership between ATTU and Aspire Academy aims to incorporate a scientific approach to training programs to benefit players across Asia. HRH Princess Zeina highlighted the changing landscape of table tennis, with more countries achieving success at the international level. Through joint workshops and educational platforms, the collaboration seeks to elevate the sport and provide opportunities for aspiring athletes to reach their full potential.

With the support of senior officials from ATTU and the International Table Tennis Federation, the collaboration between Aspire Academy and the Asian Table Tennis Union is poised to make a significant impact on the development of young players in Asia. The focus on the cadet age group and the emphasis on education and training programs demonstrate a commitment to bridging the gap in table tennis levels across the continent. Aspire Academy’s world-class facilities and expertise position it as a key partner in advancing the sport of table tennis in Asia.
