The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Doha, Qatar recently participated in the celebration of the Gulf School Health Day on September 30. As part of the celebration, the MoPH distributed approximately 15,000 health awareness pamphlets in Arabic and English to 321 government and private schools in an effort to raise health awareness and promote healthy lifestyles among male and female students at all academic levels in Qatar. The distribution of these materials is still ongoing to cover all schools in the country.

The health awareness materials distributed by the MoPH covered a variety of important health topics, including healthy eating habits, the importance of staying hydrated by drinking water, minimizing risks of exposure to intense sunlight, proper etiquette for sneezing and coughing, the benefits of physical activity, and the dangers of excessive use of electronic devices, among other health issues. Dr. Salah Alyafei, Acting Director of the Health Promotion Department at the MoPH, emphasized that promoting health awareness is a key component of implementing the Third National Health Strategy 2024-2030 priority, which aims to improve population health and well-being in Qatar.

Dr. Alyafei highlighted the significance of encouraging individuals of all ages, particularly students, to adopt healthy lifestyles and incorporate healthy behaviors into their daily lives in order to create a healthier society overall. He also stressed the importance of providing proper health education and awareness from a young age to ensure that both current and future generations are equipped with the knowledge and tools to prioritize their health and well-being.

The MoPH’s participation in the Gulf School Health Day celebration reflects their commitment to promoting health awareness and fostering a more health-conscious population in Qatar. By distributing health awareness materials to schools throughout the country, the MoPH aims to empower students to make informed decisions about their health and take proactive steps towards adopting healthier lifestyles. This initiative is in alignment with the overarching goal of the Third National Health Strategy, which seeks to improve the overall health and well-being of Qatar’s population for years to come.

Overall, the MoPH’s efforts to raise health awareness among students in Qatar demonstrate their dedication to promoting a culture of health and wellness within the community. By providing valuable information on a range of health topics, the MoPH is equipping students with the knowledge and resources they need to make healthier choices and prioritize their well-being. Through ongoing distribution of health awareness materials, the MoPH continues to reinforce the importance of maintaining good health habits and taking proactive measures to prevent illness and disease.
