The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth announced the winners of the 4th edition of the Children’s Culture Award 2024. The award aims to foster cultural and artistic innovation and encourage talented children to develop their potential. Aleen Majid Al Saidi took first place for her topic on the importance of trees in biodiversity, while Rawqan Mahmoud Ahmed claimed second prize for a similar theme. Third prize was awarded to Jassim Yaqoub Al Nakhaili for his topic on animals. These winners were part of the top ten finalists in the “Talk so I can see you” competition, targeting children aged 7-12 years, and the “Oman Speaks” competition, for writers and authors in the children’s segment.

The closing ceremony of the award was held under the patronage of Halima Rashid Al Zar’ee, Chairperson of the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED). Additionally, the award will announce the third series of the competition’s outcome for this edition at the upcoming Muscat International Book Fair. This recognition of young talent and creativity is a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of artists and writers in Oman. By providing a platform for children to express themselves and showcase their skills, the Children’s Culture Award plays a crucial role in promoting cultural and artistic development in the country.

With the winners showcasing their creativity and talent on important topics such as biodiversity and animals, the award highlights the importance of environmental awareness and empathy towards animals among children. By encouraging children to explore and express their thoughts on these subjects, the award helps in raising awareness and promoting a sense of responsibility towards nature and wildlife. The participation of young writers and authors in the competition also signifies the support and encouragement provided to budding talent in the literary field. The recognition and appreciation of their work serve as an inspiration for other children to express themselves through writing and contribute to the rich cultural heritage of Oman.

Through competitions like “Talk so I can see you” and “Oman Speaks”, the award not only recognizes and rewards talent but also provides a platform for children to interact with like-minded individuals and foster a sense of community among young artists and writers in Oman. By bringing together children with a passion for culture and art, the award encourages collaboration and exchange of ideas, creating a vibrant and supportive environment for creative expression. This sense of camaraderie and shared passion for cultural and artistic pursuits will not only benefit the individual winners but also contribute to the overall cultural landscape of the country.

The support and recognition provided by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth through the Children’s Culture Award are essential in nurturing and promoting young talent in Oman. By encouraging children to explore their creativity and develop their skills in cultural and artistic fields, the award plays a crucial role in shaping the future generation of artists and writers in the country. The acknowledgment of the winners at prestigious events like the Muscat International Book Fair also helps in showcasing their work to a wider audience and providing them with a platform to gain more visibility and recognition for their talent. The continued success of the award will not only inspire children to pursue their artistic interests but also contribute to the enrichment of Oman’s cultural heritage and artistic legacy.
