Teachers play a crucial role in shaping future generations and inspiring young minds, as President Sheikh Mohamed of the UAE expressed his appreciation for their dedicated service to the nation on World Teachers Day. Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the importance of education as the foundation of the UAE’s progress, with teachers at the heart of this vision. He also announced that February 28 will be celebrated as Emirati Day for Education, further emphasizing the significance of educators in the country.

Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, thanked teachers for their contributions, stating that the nation appreciates them. Other leaders, such as Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, acknowledged teachers as role models and makers of future leaders, praising their efforts in instilling virtuous values, ideals, and good citizenship in children.

The UAE has been globally recognized for its efforts in quality education, ranking first in three indexes related to the Sustainable Development Goal 4. The country has maintained its leadership position in these indexes, showcasing its commitment to achieving inclusive and equitable quality education for all. The UAE has implemented a smart education system since 2012, utilizing technology to provide remote learning services, which proved crucial during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Moreover, the UAE has prioritized education in its foreign aid, supporting initiatives such as the Global Partnership for Education and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. These programs have helped build schools, train teachers, and reach millions of individuals worldwide. Empowering teachers remains a top priority for the UAE, with Minister of Education Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri emphasizing the key role teachers play in advancing the country’s education system and building future generations.

Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) also celebrated World Teachers Day, acknowledging the incredible teachers who inspire and empower children every day. The authority encouraged parents to express gratitude to teachers by sharing a ‘Thank You’ certificate on social media platforms. This initiative aimed to recognize and appreciate teachers for their dedication and commitment to students’ education. World Teachers Day serves as an opportunity to honor and celebrate the invaluable contributions of educators in the UAE and worldwide.
