Salem Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security and Military Affairs, recently confirmed that the Sudanese army had targeted the residence of the UAE Head of Mission in Khartoum, resulting in significant damage to the building and nearby facilities. This incident is a clear violation of diplomatic immunity and international laws, such as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. Al Jabri presented evidence and photos proving the deliberate targeting of the residence, contradicting the claims made by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Armed Forces.

The Assistant Minister criticized Sudan’s attempts to shift blame and responsibility for the humanitarian crisis in the country, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict. He accused the Sudanese authorities of misleading the international community and diverting attention from the suffering of the Sudanese people. Al Jabri highlighted the UAE’s efforts, along with its partners, to help bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict and reiterated that the false accusations against the UAE have persisted for over nine months despite evidence to the contrary.

Al Jabri called on United Nations experts to review the evidence and assess the damage caused by the attack on the UAE Head of Mission’s residence. He expressed gratitude to over 100 countries and several international organizations that condemned the attack and showed solidarity with the UAE. The Assistant Minister emphasized that Sudan’s denial and continued false accusations against the UAE demonstrate a lack of regard for the suffering of the Sudanese people and undermine their aspirations for stability and prosperity.

It is essential for the international community to hold accountable those responsible for attacks on diplomatic missions and to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic personnel. Violating the sanctity of diplomatic missions not only breaches international law but also puts the lives of diplomats and their families at risk. Countries must adhere to the principles outlined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

The UAE and its partners remain committed to supporting efforts to bring peace and stability to Sudan and alleviate the suffering of its people. By working together, countries can help facilitate dialogue and negotiations to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The international community must continue to condemn acts of aggression and hold those responsible accountable to prevent further escalation of violence and instability in the region.

In conclusion, the attack on the UAE Head of Mission’s residence in Khartoum by the Sudanese army is a blatant violation of diplomatic norms and international laws. It is imperative for the Sudanese authorities to take responsibility for their actions and prioritize the well-being and safety of all individuals within their borders. The UAE and its partners will continue to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Sudan and uphold the principles of diplomacy and respect for international law. The international community must stand together in condemning such attacks and ensuring that diplomatic immunity is respected and protected worldwide.
