The Ministry of Interior in the UAE has introduced a new initiative that allows traffic files to be opened for residents as soon as they turn 18. Younger residents will automatically have a traffic file opened for them upon reaching the age of 18, and they will receive an SMS notifying them of this. These changes are part of the updates to the electronic services system under the ‘Zero Government Bureaucracy’ program.

The initiative includes 11 new services aimed at eliminating bureaucracy and simplifying processes related to vehicle and driving licenses, vehicle transfer, and tariff services. The goal is to reduce service times to a record period and make the process more efficient for residents. Additionally, the authority has introduced various amendments to the electronic services to streamline processes and improve accessibility for residents.

Some of the key changes include obtaining a parking permit automatically for people of determination, streamlining services for replacing lost or damaged digital plates, and making it easier to exchange driving licenses from other countries. Individuals can now insert their driving license and ownership data into their Apple Wallet for easy access. Vehicle ownership will now be issued directly from the car dealership, and the authority is testing the activation of digital transfer of certificates in Abu Dhabi.

Furthermore, the authority has eliminated the mandatory printing and delivery of driving and car ownership licenses, opting for electronic versions instead. A single system has been introduced to transfer vehicle ownership digitally, making the process more convenient for residents. These changes are part of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to modernize and improve their electronic services system, aiming to make processes more efficient and accessible for residents.

The Ministry of Interior’s new initiatives and changes to the electronic services system are designed to enhance the overall experience for residents and streamline processes related to traffic files, vehicle ownership, and driving licenses. By implementing these changes, the authority aims to reduce bureaucracy, improve efficiency, and cater to the needs of residents in the UAE more effectively.
