Indian actress, playback singer, and politician Roopa Ganguly was recently arrested and taken to Kolkata Police Headquarters, Lalbazar. The arrest happened after Ganguly participated in a strike at Basdroni Police Station, protesting the death of a schoolboy in Basdroni. The young student died after being hit by an excavator in Kolkata’s Bansdroni. Ganguly alleged that those involved were close aides of the local 113-ward TMC counsellor. She expressed her frustration at the police’s inability to arrest the perpetrators promptly and criticized them for targeting common citizens like her instead.

In a statement to ANI, Ganguly explained the circumstances surrounding the student’s tragic death. She mentioned that the incident occurred early in the morning of Mahalaya when a payloader struck a 14-year-old student on his way to tuition. Ganguly claimed that the original driver was not operating the vehicle, as it was a training session for four intoxicated boys who were close associates of the local TMC counsellor. Despite her pleas to the police to arrest the individuals responsible, Ganguly found herself arrested and taken to Lalbazar instead. She expressed her confusion as to why the police targeted her instead of apprehending the true culprits.

The incident has sparked outrage and demands for justice for the schoolboy who tragically lost his life. Ganguly’s arrest has also raised questions about the police’s handling of the case and their priorities in addressing the situation. The local community and supporters of Ganguly have called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the student’s death and for accountability to be established. The arrest has brought attention to the larger issue of public safety and the responsibilities of law enforcement in ensuring the protection of citizens.

As the details of the student’s death continue to unfold, it is clear that the incident has had a significant impact on the community and has highlighted the need for proper measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Ganguly’s arrest has drawn attention to the broader issues of accountability and justice in cases of negligence and misconduct. It remains to be seen how the authorities will handle the situation and whether there will be any significant changes in policies or procedures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again. The outcry over the incident and the arrest of Ganguly serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all individuals affected by such tragedies.
