The 15th edition of the Salon du Cheval was officially inaugurated by H R H Prince Moulay Rachid under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco. The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) and delegations from 40 Arab and European countries are participating in the event at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Centre in El Jadida, Morocco. QREC’s participation was extended in the framework of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, and the opening ceremony was attended by the heads of the participating delegations.
During the Salon, QREC’s chairman, Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, presented the QREC Shield to H R H Prince Moulay Rachid in the presence of H E Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al Attiyah, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Qatar Embassy in Morocco. The QREC booth, a regular feature at the Salon, promotes the club’s events, including Arabian horse shows and race meetings at Al Rayyan and Al Uqda racecourses, as well as major international racing events like the Qatar Goodwood Festival in the UK and the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in France.
The Salon attendees have the opportunity to learn about Qatar’s achievements in equestrian sports, including its success in Arabian horse racing and show disciplines. The booth also showcases Qatar’s leading role in organizing Arabian horse shows in the Arab region. The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe coincides with the Salon this year, and QREC has coordinated its participation in both events to ensure a strong representation of Qatar’s equestrian sport.
The Salon du Cheval in Morocco celebrates the cultural, historical, and scientific dimensions of equestrian heritage through various activities such as displays of paintings, artworks, and manuscripts, as well as cultural and scientific lectures delivered by senior equestrian experts. This year’s theme, “Horse Farming in Morocco: Innovation and Challenge,” highlights the country’s equestrian industry and traditions.
Throughout the week, the Salon will feature a variety of equestrian events and championships, including an Arabian Horse show and a show jumping competition. Professionals from different equestrian fields, such as saddle making, farriery, and “Tbourida” rifle making, will also be represented. “Tbourida,” a popular equestrian activity in Morocco, is one of the highlights of the Salon’s program, showcasing the country’s rich equestrian culture. The event aims to bring together equestrian enthusiasts and professionals from around the world to celebrate the beauty and artistry of the equine world.
