Saudi Arabia has recently condemned the attack on the residence of the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong condemnation, stating that the attack on the UAE ambassador’s residence is a violation of international law. The Kingdom emphasized the need for the protection of diplomats and respect for diplomatic missions in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The UAE’s foreign ministry also issued a statement expressing concern over the extensive damage caused to the ambassador’s residence in Khartoum, Sudan. The ministry emphasized the importance of protecting diplomatic buildings and embassy staff residences in accordance with international treaties and customs that govern diplomatic relations. It also announced plans to submit a letter of protest to the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the United Nations against the attack by the Sudanese Armed Forces, noting that it violates the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic premises.

The attack on the UAE ambassador’s residence in Sudan has raised concerns about the safety and security of diplomats and diplomatic missions worldwide. Such attacks not only violate international law but also undermine the principles of diplomacy and peaceful relations between nations. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its rejection of all forms of violence against diplomats and emphasized the need to uphold the protections guaranteed by the Vienna Convention.

The diplomatic community has a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of all diplomats and embassy staff, as well as to respect the sovereignty of diplomatic premises. The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations serves as a crucial framework for regulating diplomatic practices and ensuring the smooth functioning of international relations. Attacks on diplomatic missions not only endanger the lives of diplomats but also threaten the fragile balance of peace and cooperation between nations.

In response to the attack on the UAE ambassador’s residence in Sudan, the UAE’s foreign ministry announced its intention to raise the issue with regional and international organizations to seek redress for the violation of diplomatic norms. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the importance of upholding the principles of diplomacy and ensuring the protection of diplomatic premises in accordance with international law. The attack serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by diplomats in conflict-prone regions and highlights the need for increased efforts to safeguard diplomatic immunity.

In conclusion, the recent attack on the residence of the UAE ambassador in Sudan underscores the importance of respecting the inviolability of diplomatic premises and ensuring the safety and security of diplomats worldwide. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have condemned the attack and called for the protection of diplomatic missions in compliance with international law. The incident serves as a wake-up call for the international community to reaffirm its commitment to upholding the principles of diplomacy and maintaining peaceful relations between nations. Attacks on diplomatic missions must be met with swift condemnation and concrete actions to prevent further violations of diplomatic norms.
