Nuri Sahin, the head coach of Borussia Dortmund, recently spoke at a press conference ahead of their UEFA Champions League match against Celtic. He used this opportunity to praise Brendan Rodgers, the coach of Celtic, for his influence on his career. Sahin had previously played under Rodgers during a loan spell at Liverpool in the 2012-13 season before returning to Dortmund. Despite some criticism of Rodgers for playing him out of position at Liverpool, Sahin spoke positively of his experience with the coach and the valuable lessons he learned.

During his time with Rodgers, Sahin developed a deep respect for his coaching style and tactical knowledge. He admired Rodgers’ approach to the game and found his ideas to be interesting and beneficial for his own career. Despite being played in a different position than he was used to, Sahin acknowledged the challenges he faced at Liverpool and understood the decisions made by Rodgers due to the presence of Steven Gerrard in his position. Ultimately, Sahin expressed his excitement for the upcoming match against Celtic, emphasizing that he only has positive things to say about his former coach.

In their Champions League opener, Dortmund managed to secure a convincing 3-0 victory against Club Brugge, marking Sahin’s successful debut as a coach in the competition. On the other hand, Celtic has been off to a strong start in their title defense, winning all six of their games and scoring 20 goals without conceding once. Their first European match saw them claim a 5-1 victory at home against Slovan Bratislava. Sahin acknowledged the challenge that Celtic poses, highlighting their unbeaten streak and dominant performances. However, he also emphasized that it will be a significant challenge for Celtic to play against Dortmund in their home stadium.

As the match draws closer, Sahin remains confident in his team’s abilities and looks forward to facing Celtic on the Champions League stage. Despite Celtic’s impressive form and strong start to the season, Sahin refrains from labeling them as underdogs and recognizes the potential challenge they bring to the table. With both teams determined to secure a victory, the match promises to be an exciting showdown between two talented sides. Sahin’s positive attitude and respect for Rodgers reflect his professional approach to coaching and his commitment to success with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
