The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 is set to take place in Jeddah from 25 January 2025 to 25 May 2025, organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation. Qatar Museums will be participating by exhibiting eight objects from The Museum of Islamic Art, in line with the biennale’s theme of ‘Numbers.’ The event will showcase a blend of historical artifacts and contemporary works, offering a unique exploration of the mathematical and numerical significance in Islamic art.

The collaboration between Qatar Museums and the Diriyah Biennale Foundation highlights the depth and diversity of Islamic art, with a thematic focus on ‘Numbers.’ The objects on display in the AlMadar section of the Biennale symbolize the commitment to promoting Islamic art on a global stage. Shaika Nasser Al-Nassr, Director of The Museum of Islamic Arts, expressed excitement about the participation, noting that it offers a unique platform to showcase the diverse heritage of Islamic art.

The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 will be held at the iconic Western Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, with the theme And all that is in between. The event will feature a combination of historical objects and contemporary artworks, extending into a vast outdoor exhibition space. One of the highlights will be AlMadar, a collective presentation showcasing the richness and diversity of Islamic culture through contributions from institutions across various geographies.

The Biennale’s first edition in 2023, titled Awwal Bait, made a lasting impact by showcasing the rich heritage of Islamic artistry. Qatar Museums contributed to this inaugural event by lending four remarkable pieces, reflecting the organization’s commitment to promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of Islamic art and culture. With the Islamic Arts Biennale gaining momentum, Qatar Museums will continue its active role in promoting cultural exchange at the heart of the event.

The loaned objects from The Museum of Islamic Arts will not only enhance the Biennale’s exhibitions but also provide visitors with a unique insight into the mathematical and numerical significance within Islamic art. The event serves as a platform for cultural exchange and the promotion of Islamic art globally, highlighting the rich heritage and artistic innovation of the Islamic world. By participating in the Biennale, Qatar Museums reaffirms its commitment to showcasing the diverse heritage of Islamic art and contributing to the preservation and promotion of this important cultural legacy.
