The National Ambulance in Bahrain plays a crucial role in saving lives every day, responding to approximately 160 emergency calls and providing high-quality emergency care. Captain Saleh Al Faihani recently shed light on the intense pressures and challenges faced by his team during an interview on ‘Amn FM,’ a radio programme highlighting the work of the National Ambulance. The 12 ambulance centers strategically placed throughout the kingdom are equipped to handle a wide range of emergencies, from heart attacks to car crashes, with paramedics receiving extensive training to ensure they are prepared for the demands of the job.

Captain Al Faihani emphasized the importance of quick response times in emergency situations, urging drivers not to block emergency vehicles and to follow instructions given by call handlers. These instructions are critical in stabilizing patients and preserving lives, highlighting the importance of cooperation between the public and emergency services. The call handlers are trained to communicate in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and Filipino, and work closely with external agencies such as embassies for translation support when needed.

The National Ambulance’s operations room is responsible for coordinating responses to emergency calls, with Captain Al Faihani providing insight into the strategic placement of ambulance centers based on geographical studies and population data. The swift response capabilities of the service are essential in saving lives and ensuring the safety of individuals in distress. The radio programme on ‘Amn FM’ served as a platform to showcase the dedication and professionalism of the National Ambulance team, highlighting their commitment to providing timely and effective emergency care to those in need.

Through collaboration with Bahrain Radio and the General Directorate of Media and Security Culture, the National Ambulance continues to raise awareness about the importance of timely emergency response and the role of paramedics in saving lives. Captain Al Faihani’s interview on ‘Amn FM’ provided a glimpse into the challenges faced by emergency responders on a daily basis, emphasizing the need for public support and cooperation in ensuring the success of their life-saving efforts. As sirens wail across Bahrain, the National Ambulance stands ready to leap into action, providing a critical lifeline to those in need of emergency medical assistance.
