Sayyid Badr meets with multiple officials in New York

During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, met with several foreign dignitaries to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields. One of the meetings was with Tawhid Hussain and Mohammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisors for Foreign Affairs and Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh respectively. They discussed existing trade ties and expressed their desire to further develop and strengthen them to benefit both nations.

Another important meeting was with Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, where they discussed regional and international issues of common interest. Emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving current challenges, they also stressed the need for joint cooperation to support efforts towards achieving peace in the region. The ministers highlighted the strength of bilateral relations and historical ties between Oman and Iran, reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation and partnership in various sectors.

Sayyid Badr also met with Alexander Schallenberg, the Foreign Minister of Austria, to review the current regional and international situation. They discussed efforts to achieve security and peace, emphasizing the need for serious international cooperation to confront challenges. The ministers expressed their interest in enhancing partnerships in renewable energy, education, and tourism sectors to deepen economic and scientific interests between the two countries.

The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Suriname signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special, and official passports. The agreement was signed in New York by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, and Albert Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname. Both ministers expressed their aspiration to advance bilateral cooperation, especially in economic and commercial fields, as well as in the exchange of expertise and scientific cooperation.

During his meeting with Tim Lenderking, the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Sayyid Badr discussed efforts to support the peace process in Yemen and humanitarian initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. The Sultanate of Oman reaffirmed its firm support for political dialogue as a means to achieve stability, peace, and harmony in Yemen. The meeting underscored Oman’s commitment to facilitating peace and stability in the region through diplomatic efforts and humanitarian aid.

In conclusion, the meetings held by Sayyid Badr during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York highlighted Oman’s commitment to strengthening international relations and promoting peace and cooperation. The discussions with foreign dignitaries from Bangladesh, Iran, Austria, and Suriname focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade, renewable energy, education, and tourism. The agreement on mutual visa exemption with Suriname and discussions on supporting the peace process in Yemen underscored Oman’s dedication to promoting stability and peace in the region. Through diplomatic efforts and partnerships, Oman aims to contribute to global peace and security.
