UAE residents can prepare for some rainfall in certain areas in the coming days as the country gears up for cooler temperatures. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), from September 28 to 30, there is a likelihood of rain due to convective clouds forming towards the east and south, as well as over internal areas. On September 29, rain may also be seen in northern areas. The change in weather is a welcome relief as the harsh summer comes to an end with the autumn equinox observed on September 22.

During the upcoming days, humidity levels are expected to rise, along with fog and mist in the mornings. Temperatures are predicted to drop, with daytime temperatures falling below 40°C. As the country transitions to cooler weather, residents can enjoy more pleasant temperatures with occasional light winds. The nights will gradually become longer as the winter season approaches. Earlier forecasts by NCM had anticipated rain in September, signaling the weakening of the Indian monsoon depression and the presence of desert thermal lows over the Arabian Peninsula.

Traditionally, astronomical sightings have been used to predict changing weather patterns. An Arab saying suggests that when the Suhail star rises, the night cools down. The spotting of the Suhail star on August 24 marked the end of peak summer and the beginning of the ‘Sufriya’ period. This period, lasting 40 days, sees fluctuations between peak heat and cooler temperatures. By mid-October, the weather is expected to stabilize during the ‘Wasm’ period, leading to the start of the cool winter season 100 days after the rise of the Suhail star.

The shift in weather patterns brings a welcome relief from the scorching summer temperatures as the UAE heads into the cooler months. The upcoming days are anticipated to bring rainfall in some areas, providing a respite from the dry conditions. As the country embraces the changes in weather, residents can look forward to experiencing more comfortable temperatures with the arrival of cooler winds. The transition towards the winter season signals the end of the peak summer heat and a shift towards more moderate weather conditions.

With the end of the summer season, the country is entering a period of transition characterized by varying temperatures and weather patterns. The sighting of the Suhail star and the subsequent ‘Sufriya’ period indicate a shift towards cooler temperatures after the peak summer heat. As UAE residents adapt to the changing weather conditions, they can anticipate milder temperatures, higher humidity levels, and the possibility of rain. By staying informed about the latest weather forecasts, residents can prepare for the upcoming changes and enjoy the more comfortable weather conditions ahead.
