Foreign Minister meets officials in New York during UNGA 79

During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with several officials to discuss various bilateral relations and cooperation efforts. One of the meetings was held with His Excellency Tawhid Hussain and His Excellency Mohammad Fawzul Kabir Khan from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. They discussed the history of existing relations between the two countries and explored ways to further develop cooperation in various fields, with a focus on trade exchange and partnership opportunities.

Another meeting took place with His Excellency Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where they discussed regional and international issues of common interest. Both ministers emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving challenges and supporting efforts to achieve peace in the region. They also highlighted the strength of bilateral relations between their countries and expressed their keenness to continue developing cooperation in various mutually beneficial areas.

In a separate meeting with His Excellency Alexander Schallenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, the current regional and international situation was reviewed. Both ministers stressed the importance of international cooperation to achieve security and peace, emphasizing the need to rely on international law and justice for all. They also expressed interest in developing partnerships in renewable energy, education, and tourism sectors, with the aim of deepening economic and scientific ties between Oman and Austria.

During the session, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Suriname signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special, and official passports. This agreement aims to facilitate travel between the two countries and strengthen diplomatic relations. Additionally, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met with Tim Lenderking, US Special Envoy for Yemen, to discuss efforts to support the peace process in Yemen and alleviate the humanitarian crisis facing the Yemeni people. The Sultanate reaffirmed its support for political dialogue as a means to achieve stability, peace, and harmony in Yemen.

Overall, the meetings held during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly highlighted the importance of international cooperation, dialogue, and diplomacy in addressing regional and global challenges. Oman’s commitment to supporting peace efforts in Yemen and strengthening bilateral relations with various countries demonstrates its dedication to promoting stability and cooperation in the region. Through continued dialogue and partnership opportunities, Oman aims to further enhance its diplomatic relations and contribute to peace and security on the international stage.
