Qatars tourism industry is experiencing significant growth, with over 3.2 million visitors welcomed by the end of August, representing a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The Chairman of Qatar Tourism, HE Saad Bin Ali Kharji, emphasized the important role of tourism in the country’s development and economic diversification efforts. The recent unveiling of the Third National Development Strategy for 2024-2030 highlights the tourism sector as a key component in driving sustainable economic growth. By creating jobs, fostering inclusion, and strengthening the local economy, the tourism sector is paving the way for Qatar to thrive.

Qatar Tourism is focused on enhancing the country’s position as a leading family tourism destination known for service excellence. The mission is to advance and enhance Qatar’s tourism sector by leveraging its rich cultural heritage, developing innovative attractions, and delivering unique experiences for residents and visitors. Visit Qatar has been established as the main arm responsible for marketing and promoting Qatar Tourism, with a commitment to achieving objectives through integrity, effective teamwork, and continuous innovation. The goal is to position Qatar as one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations in the region by 2030, with an annual visitor count of six million and increasing the sector’s contribution to the GDP.

Qatar has established itself as a major sports hub, having successfully hosted prestigious events such as the FIFA World Cup 2022, the AFC Asian Cup 2023, and the Qatar Grand Prix. To further diversify the tourism offering, Qatar is advancing its medical tourism sector, backed by a world-class public health system and leading specialized hospitals. The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector also plays a crucial role in tourism growth, providing venues for major international events. Qatar Tourism is dedicated to enhancing the country’s global presence through active participation in international exhibitions and strategic partnerships.

As Qatar celebrates World Tourism Day under the theme “Tourism and Peace,” the importance of cultural exchange and fostering global understanding is emphasized. With over 100 nationalities calling Qatar home, the country naturally encourages cultural exchange and promotes peace and tolerance. The Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) showcases diverse culinary traditions and fosters cross-cultural engagement. Qatar is recognized as one of the safest countries in the world and celebrated for its family-friendly environment, leveraging its diverse population and welcoming spirit to promote global understanding.
