Breast cancer awareness month is approaching in November, and Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) is preparing for the occasion by bringing its popular Pink Caravan initiative to Aljada in Sharjah. The three-day event, starting on October 4, will offer free breast cancer screenings and awareness workshops for families. The goal is to encourage individuals to prioritize their health, raise awareness about the importance of early detection, and improve treatment outcomes.
The event will run daily from 4 pm to 10 pm next to the ZAD food trucks in Aljada. The Pink Caravan’s mobile and mini clinics will provide free breast cancer screenings for both men and women. Awareness workshops will cover cancer prevention, self-examination techniques, and the importance of regular medical check-ups. Special workshops will also be available for cancer patients and survivors who receive ongoing support from FOCP.
In addition to the screenings and workshops, the event will offer sports, competitions, and entertainment for all ages. Children can enjoy a petting zoo, bouncy castles, and a gamer zone, while adults can explore a unique shopping experience and sample delicious foods. The Manbat market will showcase locally produced healthy products, with proceeds supporting FOCP’s mission to provide financial and emotional assistance to cancer patients.
The Pink Shop will offer exclusive merchandise, with all sales directly benefiting cancer patients and their families. Every year, Pink Caravan runs various programs to increase awareness about breast cancer. Last year, Khaleej Times accompanied FOCP’s annual ride across the seven emirates to offer free screenings and raise awareness on the importance of early detection in combating breast cancer. By participating in events like the Pink Caravan, individuals can take proactive steps towards their health and contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
