Sharjah is set to see the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles as part of a new project approved by authorities in the emirate. These fast-charging stations will be strategically located in commercial and residential areas to cater to the growing number of EV users in the region. The decision comes as part of the efforts to make the usage of eco-friendly EVs more convenient for motorists in the UAE.
To further support the adoption of electric vehicles, authorities have also announced a standardized fee structure for charging services across the country. Service providers are now required to charge a minimum of Dh1.20 plus VAT per kWh for express charging services and a minimum of Dh0.70 plus VAT per kWh for slow charging services. This move aims to streamline the charging process and make it more accessible for EV owners.
In addition to the focus on EV infrastructure, the Executive Council of Sharjah also discussed the performance of government entities and ways to enhance their services during a recent meeting. The council explored proposals to strengthen cooperation among fishermen’s cooperative associations in the UAE, showcasing the commitment to improving various sectors within the emirate.
The meeting, presided over by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, brought together top officials to discuss key initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the overall quality of life in the emirate. The decisions taken during the meeting reflect a forward-thinking approach towards sustainable development and innovation in Sharjah.
With the upcoming installation of charging stations for electric vehicles, Sharjah is gearing up to become more environmentally-friendly and technologically advanced. The move towards promoting EV usage aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change, positioning the emirate as a leader in sustainable transportation solutions.
As authorities continue to invest in infrastructure and facilities that support electric vehicle adoption, residents and visitors in Sharjah can look forward to a more sustainable and eco-conscious transportation system. The development of charging stations across various locations in the emirate will make it easier for EV owners to charge their vehicles and contribute to a greener future for Sharjah and the UAE as a whole.
