Foreign Minister attends Meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers

At the Arab Ministerial Consultative Meeting in New York, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, emphasized on the importance of unity among Arab countries to address common challenges and regional developments. The ministers expressed their support for the rights of the Palestinian people and called for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also urged the international community to implement a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to halt Israeli aggression. Sayyid Badr also met with various officials, including the President of Maldives, discussing ways to enhance bilateral relations in tourism, environment, and sustainable development.

Sayyid Badr also held meetings with officials from Venezuela, discussing political consultations and mutual exemptions from visas for different passport holders. They emphasized on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and explored new areas of partnership. Moreover, Sayyid Badr met with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the Prevention of Genocide to discuss the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip and efforts needed to protect world peoples from serious violations. They also talked about boosting international efforts to combat hate speech and incitement.

During a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, Sayyid Badr discussed projects supporting digital diplomacy, capacity and skills development in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. The bilateral relations between Oman and Luxembourg were reviewed during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Luxembourg. The meetings also touched upon various fields for enhancing economic and investment cooperation.

The Sultanate of Oman signed an executive programme with Hungary in the field of higher education and a memorandum of understanding with Bulgaria for bilateral consultations. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman met the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to discuss the latest developments in the Yemeni arena and the efforts for peace and stability in the region. Sayyid Badr also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt to discuss the Omani-Egyptian relations and the efforts to develop cooperation in various fields for both countries’ benefits.

Sayyid Badr also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in economy, trade, and culture with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. They explored prospects for collaboration in investments, renewable energy, and technology sectors. The meetings also included discussions on regional and international issues of common interest. Overall, the engagements in New York highlighted Oman’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, supporting peace efforts, and addressing regional challenges in collaboration with other nations.
