The MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) market in the UAE is projected to grow significantly, reaching $10.01 billion by 2031, according to a report by Coherent Market Insights. In response to this growth, InterContinental Dubai Festival City has unveiled its newly enhanced ‘The Event Centre’ as part of the ‘Events by InterContinental’ initiative. This transformation positions the venue as a premier destination for MICE events in the region, catering to the increasing demand driven by infrastructure development and Dubai’s strategic initiatives to establish itself as a global MICE destination.

The strategic enhancement of event offerings at InterContinental Dubai Festival City aims to offer world-class facilities and customized services for events of all scales, appealing to both local and international audiences. The ‘Events by InterContinental’ concept includes a total of 15,000 sq.m of event space, with versatile options such as the 7,200 sq.m pillarless facility at Festival Arena and the waterfront Event Centre with ballrooms, meeting rooms, and a promenade offering stunning views of Dubai Creek. These spaces provide a comprehensive solution for a variety of events, catering to different budget requirements and preferences.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG, Jonathan Timms, President of Al Futtaim Real Estate, and Thomas Schmelter, Area General Manager of IHG Hotels at Dubai Festival City, were present at the launch of ‘Events by InterContinental’. The initiative was praised for enhancing the MICE sector in the UAE and positioning Dubai as a key global destination for events and conferences. Thomas Schmelter emphasized the commitment to provide exceptional event experiences that align with guests’ expectations and Dubai’s vision for sustainable growth, upgrading the portfolio of venues available for events in Dubai.

The newly enhanced ballrooms at The Event Centre feature top-tier technology, including the largest built-in LED screen and a high-lumen projector, designed to deliver high-quality presentations. These versatile spaces, designed by David T’Kint, combine sophistication and functionality in a waterfront setting with scenic views of Dubai Creek and the Dubai Skyline. Each space draws inspiration from the iconic dhows of Dubai Creek, offering a customized experience that reflects the city’s heritage while embracing modern innovation. The redesigned ballrooms cater to diverse event needs, from large-scale conferences to intimate meetings, located within InterContinental Dubai Festival City with direct access to Crowne Plaza and Dubai Festival City Mall.

Pranav Vohra, Cluster Commercial Director of IHG Hotels at Dubai Festival City, highlighted the commitment to providing exceptional venues that meet the evolving demands of corporate clients while prioritizing sustainability. The significant investment in world-class facilities and sustainable practices aligns with Dubai’s long-term vision of sustainable growth. By offering spaces that combine innovation, functionality, and eco-friendly initiatives, InterContinental Dubai Festival City reinforces its commitment to supporting Dubai’s emergence as a global destination for business and leisure, while contributing to broader environmental responsibility goals. The venue’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the MICE industry positions it as a key player in Dubai’s events landscape.
