The Royal Opera House Muscat is set to commence its highly anticipated 2024/25 season with a lineup of captivating performances starting this October. The season kicks off with a spectacular production of Un Ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi, performed by the National Centre of Performing Arts Beijing (NCPA) for the first time in Oman. Featuring a stellar cast and conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti, this production promises to bring Verdi’s powerful exploration of love and betrayal to life. In addition to this, audiences can look forward to A Musical Night from China, a unique concert showcasing traditional Chinese music in classical form.
Director General and Artistic Director at ROHM, Umberto Fanni, expressed his excitement for the premiere of Un Ballo in Maschera in Muscat, highlighting the collaboration between ROHM and NCPA Beijing. The Omani Women’s Day performance on 17 October will feature legendary singer Majida El Roumi, the Al Nour Wal Amal Ladies’ Orchestra, European Philharmonic Orchestra, and more. Majida El Roumi will also delight audiences with two additional concerts, showcasing her iconic songs celebrating themes of love, humanity, and patriotism.
The month of October will culminate with a performance by sitar virtuoso Nishat Khan accompanied by the European Philharmonic Orchestra for a unique concert featuring his sitar symphony Gate of the Moon. Alongside these performances, the Royal Opera House Muscat will host educational and outreach events, including the Absolute Music show with soprano Joyce El Khouri and pianist Serouj Kradjian. This concert will blend French and Arabic songs in the tradition of “songs of salon”, creating a rich and intimate musical experience for audiences to enjoy.
