The State of Qatar’s commitment to international cooperation and peace has been evident since its joining of the United Nations in 1971. Over the past five decades, Qatar has played a significant role in supporting the objectives of the UN, especially in maintaining peace and security globally. The country has actively engaged in various UN activities and regional and international groups to find solutions to regional and international crises, prevent conflicts, and promote peace. Qatar has been a strong advocate for serving humanity and has hosted conferences, meetings, and workshops to address issues like international peace and security, development, democracy, human rights, and peacebuilding.

Qatar has established bilateral and multilateral relations with several UN institutions and specialized bodies, demonstrating its commitment to international cooperation and partnerships. The country has collaborated with organizations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the United Nations Development Programme, UNESCO, and many others to support various initiatives aimed at promoting development, human rights, and peace. Qatar has also provided support to least developed countries and those affected by natural disasters and conflicts, delivering aid through bilateral and multilateral channels to ensure it reaches those in need efficiently and effectively.

The State of Qatar’s contributions to international peace and security extend beyond aid and humanitarian assistance. Qatar has actively participated in settlements and negotiations to resolve conflicts, using mediation as a key element of its foreign policy. Through its mediation efforts, Qatar has earned a global reputation as a trusted peace broker, successfully bridging the gap between conflicting parties and achieving solutions that satisfy all parties involved. This has led to notable achievements in resolving armed conflicts, such as the Peace Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan between the US and the Taliban in 2020, and participation in peacekeeping forces in various regions.

In addition to its efforts in conflict resolution, Qatar has also played a crucial role in providing humanitarian aid and support in times of crisis, including the Covid-19 pandemic. Qatar has contributed to international efforts to confront the pandemic by providing support to needy countries and organizations, facilitating the evacuation of stranded individuals, and offering aid focused on health, education, water, and sanitation sectors. The country has been actively involved in evacuating and transporting stranded individuals and UN employees worldwide to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, showcasing its dedication to international solidarity and cooperation.

Overall, Qatar’s commitment to international cooperation and peace has been a cornerstone of its foreign policy since independence in 1971. The country’s active engagement with the United Nations and other international bodies reflects its dedication to serving humanity and promoting global peace and security. Through its contributions to resolving armed conflicts, providing humanitarian aid, and supporting international peacekeeping efforts, Qatar has demonstrated its commitment to being an active and responsible member of the international community. The State of Qatar’s achievements in the field of international cooperation serve as a testament to its role as a peace-making state and a trusted partner in promoting global peace and security.
