The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia recently announced the arrest of 22,716 illegal residents during inspection raids conducted in various regions of the country. These arrests were made as part of joint field security campaigns carried out by security forces and government agencies between Sept. 12 and Sept. 18. The individuals arrested included violators of the Residency Law, Border Security Law, and Labor Law. A significant number of those arrested were attempting to illegally cross the border into the Kingdom, with a majority being Yemeni and Ethiopian nationals.
In addition to those attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, a number of individuals were also arrested for attempting to leave the country illegally. Ten individuals involved in transporting, sheltering, and employing these violators were also arrested. Currently, over 15,000 expatriates are undergoing legal procedures as part of punitive measures against them. This includes referral to their diplomatic missions for travel documents, completion of travel reservations, and deportation for those found in violation of the law.
The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning to individuals who facilitate the illegal entry of individuals into the country. Penalties for such actions can include up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SR1 million. Furthermore, vehicles used for transportation or houses used to provide shelter may also be confiscated. The ministry has urged the public to report any cases of violation by contacting the specified hotline numbers in different regions of the Kingdom.
The crackdown on illegal residents in Saudi Arabia is part of ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and maintain security within the country. With thousands of individuals being arrested during the recent raids, it is apparent that authorities are taking a strong stance against those who seek to enter or leave the country illegally. By conducting joint security campaigns and working with government agencies, the Ministry of Interior is sending a clear message that violations of immigration laws will not be tolerated.
The Ministry’s efforts to apprehend illegal residents and enforce immigration laws are aimed at safeguarding the security and stability of the Kingdom. By cracking down on those who violate residency, border, and labor laws, authorities are working to ensure that individuals entering the country do so through legal channels. This not only protects the integrity of the immigration system but also contributes to the overall safety and well-being of the population.
As the penalties for facilitating illegal entry into the Kingdom are severe, it is crucial for individuals to report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities. By reporting violations, the public can play a key role in helping to maintain the security of the country. With stringent measures in place to deter illegal immigration, Saudi Arabia is sending a strong message that compliance with immigration laws is essential for the safety and security of all residents.
