The Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development is a UN committee led by President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Carlos Slim Helù of Mexico. The committee is co-chaired by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) secretary general and the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) director general. It includes key decision-makers in the ICT sector and senior officials from various countries. One of the key focuses of the meeting was on improving the resilience of digital infrastructure to handle unexpected crises. As technology plays an increasingly important role in everyday life, it is crucial that digital systems are able to withstand and recover from unforeseen events. By exploring future trends in digital technology, the commission aims to stay ahead of potential challenges and ensure that digital advancements benefit society as a whole.

The participation of leading figures from government and the private sector at the meeting demonstrates the importance of collaboration in shaping the digital future. By working together, different sectors can share knowledge and resources to drive innovation and progress in the digital space. This collaborative approach is essential for addressing global challenges and maximizing the benefits of digital technology for all individuals.
