Oman is set to host its first-ever Oman Climate Week from February 24-27, 2025, in collaboration with various organizations including UNEP, Sultan Qaboos University, and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. The event aims to bring together global experts to address climate change and explore opportunities for sustainable innovation in Oman. The event will focus on Oman’s commitments under the Paris Agreement, Oman Vision 2040, and a National Climate Strategy, including efforts such as emission reductions, energy efficiency, climate adaptation plans, green hydrogen production, and renewable energy investments.

The Sultanate of Oman’s Climate Week is in alignment with its commitment to address climate change in line with Oman Vision 2040 and the Paris Agreement. The event will explore cooperation among governments and sectors to reduce climate impact and deliver a 1.5°C aligned outcome in 2025 as per commitments made at COP29. Dr. Mohammed Al-Kalbani, Director General of Environmental Affairs at Oman’s Environment Authority, emphasized the urgency of taking immediate climate action to protect human lives and ensure global stability due to the climate crisis affecting the planet.

During the event, the Environment Authority unveiled the logo for Oman Climate Week, symbolizing ‘Life in a Sustainable World.’ Dr. Al-Kalbani outlined the six goals for the event, including fostering climate action, facilitating regional cooperation, driving local and regional business, supporting the adoption and scaling of solutions, showcasing Oman’s commitment to climate action, and encouraging community engagement. The event, chaired by Oman’s Environment Authority, will offer delegates an immersive experience with a global exhibition focusing on climate and environmental technologies, conferences, technology & science talks, masterclass workshops, networking hub, and field visits, centered around climate mitigation, adaptation, finance, carbon markets, technologies, loss and damage, and social inclusion.

Oman Climate Week will serve as a regional platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to come together to accelerate the deployment of climate solutions and address the challenges ahead. The event will highlight Oman’s efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices in the region. Through collaborations and discussions, Oman Climate Week aims to drive progress towards a more sustainable and resilient future. The event is a significant step towards advancing climate action and promoting a culture of sustainability in Oman and beyond.
