The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in Muscat has recently launched a new initiative called the “Youth Ambassadors Programme” in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This four-day programme is being held at the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science in Muscat Governorate. The opening ceremony was graced by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs. The main goal of this programme is to prepare young people from Oman and other Arab states to participate in regional and international forums, including events organized by UN agencies, as well as to join Oman’s official delegations at various conferences.

Hilal Saif Al Siyabi, the head of the Directorate General of Youth at the Ministry, has stated that the programme will host 100 young men and women from 14 GCC and other Arab states. The attendees will participate in various training workshops conducted in partnership with UNITAR. Al Siyabi also mentioned that the programme will focus on identifying and nurturing youth leadership and diplomacy skills through activities such as a simulation session that will be facilitated by UNITAR. This session will involve role-playing exercises where participants will act as diplomats and spokespersons representing different countries and organizations, engaging in discussions and negotiations on important global youth-related issues.

The Youth Ambassadors Programme in Muscat aims to empower young individuals by providing them with the necessary tools and skills to become effective international representatives. By participating in this programme, young people will have the opportunity to enhance their leadership abilities, improve their diplomatic skills, and gain a deeper understanding of global issues impacting youth around the world. Through the simulation session organized by UNITAR, participants will have a hands-on experience in understanding and addressing key challenges facing the youth population globally. This hands-on approach will enable them to develop critical thinking, negotiation, and communication skills that are essential for them to excel in international diplomatic settings.

The Youth Ambassadors Programme is a unique opportunity for young individuals from Oman and other Arab states to gain practical experience in international relations and diplomacy. By participating in this programme, participants will have the chance to interact with peers from different backgrounds and cultures, fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. Through their engagement in discussions and negotiations during the simulation session, participants will learn how to effectively communicate their ideas, negotiate agreements, and work towards common goals. These experiences will not only help them become more effective communicators and negotiators but also prepare them to represent their country and region at international forums in the future.

The launch of the Youth Ambassadors Programme in Muscat underscores Oman’s commitment to investing in the development of its youth and preparing them to become future leaders in various fields, including diplomacy and international relations. The collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Foreign Ministry, and UNITAR demonstrates the government’s dedication to providing young people with opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in a global context. By equipping young individuals with the necessary tools and experiences to engage in international forums, Oman is empowering them to contribute positively to the global community and advocate for issues that are important to their generation.

In conclusion, the Youth Ambassadors Programme in Muscat represents a valuable opportunity for young people from Oman and other Arab states to enhance their leadership and diplomacy skills, as well as gain valuable experience in international relations. Through engaging in simulation sessions and training workshops, participants will develop critical skills that are essential for representing their country effectively on the global stage and addressing key challenges facing youth worldwide. This programme serves as a testament to Oman’s commitment to nurturing young talent and preparing them to become competent leaders in the future, capable of engaging with global issues and making a positive impact in their communities.
