Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen claimed his first Hong Kong Open title by defeating China’s Lei Lanxi in the men’s singles final at the badminton tournament. Axelsen, a double Olympic champion, had a dominant performance throughout the week and did not drop a single game. He took down Lei in just 44 minutes, showcasing his aggressive play and great balance on the court. The win marked Axelsen’s second Badminton World Federation tour title of the year, following his victory at the Malaysia Masters in May.

In the women’s singles final, China’s Han Yue emerged victorious against Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani, displaying her skill and potential as a rising star in the sport. The mixed doubles title went to China’s Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin, who defeated Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping in a tightly contested match. Malaysia’s Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan secured the women’s doubles title by defeating China’s Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning. Meanwhile, Korea’s Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae clinched the men’s doubles title by overcoming Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Axelsen’s win at the Hong Kong Open solidified his status as one of the top players in the world, as he became the first Dane to win the men’s singles title in Hong Kong since Peter Gade in 1997. The victory also marked a successful return to competition for Axelsen, who had been dealing with the pressure of maintaining his form after winning gold in Paris. He credited his aggressive play and balance for his success, stating that he was both surprised and happy with his performance.

Han Yue’s triumph in the women’s singles final showcased her talent and potential as a rising star in the sport. The 24-year-old from China outplayed her opponent Putri Kusuma Wardani from Indonesia, displaying a combination of skill and strategy on the court. In the mixed doubles final, Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin emerged victorious in an all-China clash, defeating Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping in a closely contested match. The women’s doubles title went to Malaysia’s Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan, who avenged their runner-up finish from the previous year by defeating China’s Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning.

In the men’s doubles final, Korea’s Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae emerged victorious by defeating Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. The Korean duo showcased their skills and teamwork on the court, securing the title with a convincing performance. Overall, the Hong Kong Open provided thrilling matches and showcased the talents of top badminton players from around the world. Axelsen’s victory in the men’s singles final was a highlight of the tournament, as he continued to impress with his aggressive play and dominant performance.
