September 14th marks World First Aid Day, and in collaboration with the Qatar Stars League (QSL), the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) kicked off a series of training courses in Doha, Qatar. The training courses, held under the slogan “Get ready, Stand by, Give First Aid,” focused on common first aid for sports and targeted international Qatari referees, QRCS employees, and volunteers. With 15 trainees from each group, the courses aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond to common sports injuries and save lives.

Khalid Mohammed Al Meresy, Head of training at QRCS’s Training and Development Center, emphasized the importance of these courses in enhancing the capabilities of international Qatari referees. He highlighted the significance of creating a safe and informed sporting community with a solid understanding of first aid fundamentals. Al Meresy praised the collaboration with Qatar Stars League and announced that the training program would be extended to various sporting associations and clubs for a week. Additionally, the initiative would include seminars and activities targeting school students, culminating in an awareness-raising exhibition for parents, families, children, visitors, and sports enthusiasts.

As part of their commitment to raising social awareness about the importance of first aid, QRCS observes World First Aid Day. Al Meresy encouraged community members to participate in these activities, emphasizing the role of first aid training in saving lives and promoting safety in sports and everyday life. Through partnerships with organizations like Qatar Stars League, QRCS aims to foster a culture of preparedness and response in the sporting community, empowering individuals with the skills needed to provide timely assistance during emergencies.

The training courses held on World First Aid Day were just the beginning of QRCS’s efforts to promote first aid awareness and education. By targeting different groups, including referees, employees, volunteers, and school students, QRCS aims to reach a wide audience and instill a sense of responsibility for first aid in various settings. The collaboration with Qatar Stars League and other sports associations underscores the importance of integrating first aid training into sports activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of athletes, officials, and spectators.

QRCS’s Training and Development Center plays a vital role in organizing these training courses and activities, providing participants with the necessary tools to respond effectively to emergencies. The center’s focus on practical skills and knowledge transfer enables individuals to apply first aid techniques confidently and competently when faced with common sports injuries. By equipping referees, employees, and volunteers with these essential skills, QRCS is building a resilient and prepared community that values safety and first aid as integral components of sports culture.

In conclusion, the collaboration between QRCS and Qatar Stars League on World First Aid Day underscores the importance of first aid training in sports and society. The training courses and activities organized by QRCS’s Training and Development Center demonstrate a commitment to raising awareness and empowering individuals with life-saving skills. As QRCS continues to expand its outreach and partnerships, the impact of first aid education is set to grow, creating a safer and more informed community that is ready to respond to emergencies effectively. Participating in first aid training not only enhances individual capabilities but also contributes to a culture of safety and preparedness that benefits society as a whole.
