Living in the UAE can be demanding, both professionally and personally, and having health insurance is crucial for peace of mind. Whether provided by your employer or not, as a UAE citizen or resident, you have the option to apply for a health card from the Emirates Health Services (EHS). This card provides access to affordable healthcare services and offers discounts on medical care at government hospitals.

The health card acts as a pass for accessing affordable medical services, making life in the UAE more comfortable. With a health card from the EHS, you can benefit from a 20% discount on all EHS services. Additionally, individuals who are Persons of Determination (PoD) receive free access to all EHS services. To apply for a health card, certain requirements and steps need to be followed, ensuring that you can access necessary healthcare services in the UAE.

To be eligible for a health card, you must be a UAE citizen, GCC citizen, or UAE resident. Requirements for People of Determination include a medical report from a government facility, passport, and Emirates ID. Fees for applying for a health card vary, with PoD paying Dh50, UAE citizens paying Dh50, and expats paying Dh100 plus an additional Dh15 for the EHS application form. The validity period of the health card also varies, with UAE and GCC nationals having a five-year validity and residents having a one-year validity.

The application process for a health card is simple and can be done through the EHS website. By following easy steps, such as selecting the healthcare category, applying for the card, and providing necessary identification documents, you can complete the application process. The EHS app also offers a convenient way to apply for a health card, with options for different categories and the ability to link the card to your Emirates ID for seamless access to healthcare services.

Once your application is approved and payment is confirmed, you will receive a notification that your health card is active. The card is only valid at EHS-operated health facilities, ensuring you can access discounted or free medical services when needed. To find EHS facilities near you, visit the EHS website and select ‘Health Care Facilities’. With the EHS health card, you can ensure that your healthcare needs are covered, offering peace of mind and support for your overall well-being while living in the UAE.
