Qatar introduces National Health Strategy 2024-2030 with goal to create a health-focused society

The National Health Strategy 2024-2030, launched by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha, aims to create a health-focused society backed by an integrated health system centered on clinical excellence. The strategy builds on the progress made by the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 while incorporating strategic pivots to tackle current and future health sector challenges, ultimately delivering the best health outcomes for the people of Qatar. The assistant Minister for Health Affairs, Dr Salih Ali Al Marri, highlighted that the strategy will focus on three key dimensions- improved population health and wellbeing, health system efficiency and resilience, and excellence in service delivery and patient experience.

The aim of the National Health Strategy 2024-2030 is to address Qatar’s present health sector challenges across population health, service delivery, and system efficiency. The strategy will bring about significant system shifts in these three priority areas over the next seven years. The launch event of the strategy was attended by Minister of Public Health H E Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari and several other dignitaries, emphasizing the importance and commitment of the Qatari government towards enhancing the healthcare system in the country. The focus of the strategy on clinical excellence reflects the government’s dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services to the people of Qatar.

Dr Salih Ali Al Marri, in his address at the launch event, emphasized the importance of building on the progress made by the previous health strategy while adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape and challenges. The National Health Strategy 2024-2030 aims to ensure that necessary strategic pivots are incorporated to address both current and future health sector challenges effectively. By focusing on improving population health and wellbeing, enhancing health system efficiency and resilience, and delivering excellence in service delivery and patient experience, the strategy aims to bring about a holistic transformation in the healthcare sector in Qatar.

The three strategic dimensions of the National Health Strategy 2024-2030- improved population health and wellbeing, health system efficiency and resilience, and excellence in service delivery and patient experience- will guide the implementation of the strategy over the next seven years. These dimensions highlight the key focus areas that will drive significant improvements in the healthcare sector in Qatar, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for the population. The strategy will focus on addressing the current challenges faced by the health sector while also ensuring the system is resilient and efficient enough to adapt to future healthcare demands and needs.
