The General Authority of Customs in Doha, Qatar has recently welcomed 24 private companies into its Authorized Economic Operator Program. These companies have demonstrated their commitment to international controls and standards regarding the supply chain in international trade. The Assistant Chairman of the GAC, Mohammed Ahmed Al Mohannadi, presented accreditation certificates to representatives of these companies, highlighting the importance of partnership and cooperation between the public and private sectors in ensuring a smooth and secure flow of trade.

The Authorized Economic Operator Program aims to provide benefits and facilities to companies that adhere to internationally approved safety and security standards. These facilities include streamlined customs procedures, reduced inspections, and quicker release of goods for these accredited companies. By earning the trust and recognition of the GAC as an authorized economic operator, these companies contribute to the enhancement and support of trade movements within the region.

Companies interested in joining the program must coordinate with the Customs Operations and Risk Department to understand the necessary controls and standards they must meet. The GAC views this program as one of its most important customs projects, with continuous improvements and additions being made to encompass all aspects of the supply chain and international trade. Mutual recognition agreements with Qatar’s trading partners are also being pursued, further enhancing economic development and providing support services to participating companies.

The GAC’s Authorized Economic Operator Program has made significant progress since its inception and has become a key tool in facilitating international trade in Qatar. By offering incentives and benefits to companies that adhere to international standards, the program aims to improve efficiency and security in the supply chain. The GAC’s commitment to partnership with the private sector underscores the importance of collaboration in achieving a seamless and secure trading environment.

The accreditation and recognition provided by the GAC through the Authorized Economic Operator Program not only benefits the participating companies but also contributes to the overall economic development of Qatar. By streamlining customs procedures and reducing barriers to trade, the program helps to attract international businesses and enhance the country’s position as a key player in global trade. The GAC’s efforts to expand and improve the program demonstrate a continued commitment to supporting and facilitating international trade in the region.

In conclusion, the General Authority of Customs in Qatar’s Authorized Economic Operator Program plays a vital role in promoting secure and efficient international trade. By recognizing and accrediting companies that meet international standards, the program helps to streamline customs procedures and facilitate the movement of goods across borders. The GAC’s commitment to partnership with the private sector and ongoing efforts to enhance the program further highlight Qatar’s position as a leading player in global trade and economic development.
