Sri Lanka is in a strong position in the third Test against England, chasing 125 more runs to secure a victory and avoid a series whitewash. Pathum Nissanka’s unbeaten 53 has put the visitors on track for a win on Monday. England initially had a lead of 62 runs in the first innings but a tired display in the second innings put them at a disadvantage. Jamie Smith’s remarkable 67 runs helped England to some extent but Sri Lanka’s consistent bowling limited their total.

Sri Lankan bowlers were successful in exploiting the English batsmen’s weaknesses, with Vishwa Fernando and other bowlers finding consistent movement through the air. England’s aggressive approach backfired as they lost wickets at regular intervals, ultimately falling short of a commanding total. Despite a strong start by the England bowlers, Sri Lanka were able to capitalize on the improved batting conditions later in the day. The tailenders added only a few boundaries to the total, leaving England in a tricky position heading into the final day.

England’s surprise selection, the towering left-arm seamer Josh Hull, made an impact by dismissing key Sri Lankan batsmen early on the third day. Chris Woakes and Olly Stone also made crucial contributions with the ball to restrict Sri Lanka’s first-innings lead. Despite a spirited effort from the English bowlers, Sri Lanka’s resilience and determination have put them in a strong position to clinch victory in the final Test of the series. The match promises to be an exciting battle between two competitive sides striving for success.

The game has been full of twists and turns, with both teams showcasing their talent and skill on the field. Sri Lanka’s batting prowess has been on display in the third Test, with Pathum Nissanka leading the charge towards a potential victory. England, on the other hand, will be looking to regroup and come back stronger in the final day’s play. With the match finely poised, cricket fans can expect an enthralling contest as the two teams battle it out for supremacy. Sri Lanka will be eager to salvage some pride with a win, while England will be determined to avoid a series whitewash. The stage is set for an exciting finish to what has been a compelling Test series between two competitive sides.
