The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, has officially announced the launch of the National Appointment System and its mobile app, Mawaeed, in Bahrain. This innovative platform is designed to serve as a unified appointment booking system for services that require in-person attendance at government service centers. The launch of Mawaeed aligns with the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and supports the government’s vision for digital transformation. Developed collaboratively by the Ministry of Interior and the iGA, Mawaeed was initially piloted in November 2023 and has since expanded to include 18 new government centers from six additional entities.
The National Appointment System and the Mawaeed app are key components of the Government Plan 2023–2026, which aims to adopt new technologies and improve system efficiency. The initiative also follows the decisions of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, chaired by His Excellency, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior. The app offers several key features, including bilingual support in Arabic and English, a comprehensive list of government entities, and services for seamless appointment booking and management. Users receive notifications for appointment confirmations and reminders, and can provide instant feedback through the National Suggestions & Complaints System (Tawasul).
Since its pilot launch, the Mawaeed app has been downloaded over 9,679 times and has facilitated more than 50,000 booking requests. Registration is available for citizens, residents, non-residents, and GCC nationals using their Bahrain ID, passport numbers, or GCC ID. The app is available for download from the eGovernment App Store at bahrain.bh/apps. For more information about the National Appointment System and the Mawaeed app, users can contact the Government Services Call Center at 80008001 or provide feedback through Tawasul or the app itself. The success of the app demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing efficient and convenient services to the public.
In conclusion, the launch of the National Appointment System and the Mawaeed app in Bahrain is a significant step towards enhancing government services and embracing digital transformation. By providing a unified platform for appointment booking and management, the app streamlines the process for users and improves system efficiency. With key features such as bilingual support, notifications, and feedback mechanisms, the app offers a user-friendly experience for citizens, residents, and non-residents alike. The app’s success since its pilot launch highlights the growing demand for innovative solutions in government services. Users can now access the app through the eGovernment App Store and benefit from the convenience and efficiency it offers. The government’s ongoing efforts to adopt new technologies and improve system efficiency are evident in the launch of the Mawaeed app, reflecting a commitment to providing quality services to the public.
