The UAE Journalists Association (UAEJA) has shown its support for an anti-online-trolling campaign initiated by Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, the Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO). This collaboration aims to uphold professional standards, reinforce national values, and combat online trolls, or ‘electronic flies’, a term used to describe a significant modern issue. Fadila Abdullah Al Muaini, the Chairperson of UAEJA, highlighted the association’s efforts to coordinate with media institutions to back the national campaign against online trolling.

Al Muaini mentioned that online trolling is often driven by individuals with malicious intentions who aim to spread misleading information and destructive ideas through fake accounts. The association is dedicated to raising awareness among citizens and social media users to combat these issues and ensure national social peace and security. To achieve this, the UAEJA is organizing training courses for young journalists and social media users to equip them with skills to counter harmful ideas and incorrect values spread on social media.

The initiative led by the NMO and supported by UAEJA reflects the country’s commitment to enhancing security, promoting stability, and upholding values of tolerance. It emphasizes the importance of combating terrorism and destructive ideas that are propagated by individuals with ill intent. Al Muaini urged local, Gulf, and Arab media institutions to join this national campaign, as it plays a crucial role in addressing fake and programmed accounts that spread misleading information, undermine societal values, and incite chaos and defamation of public figures and successful individuals.

The collaboration between UAEJA and NMO signifies a joint effort to combat the issue of online trolling and promote professional standards in the media landscape. By supporting the national campaign against online trolling, both organizations aim to safeguard achievements and successes from individuals who seek to tarnish them through misleading information. With a focus on raising awareness and equipping individuals with the necessary skills to counter harmful ideas on social media, the UAEJA is committed to preserving national social peace and security.

In conclusion, the anti-online-trolling campaign endorsed by UAEJA and NMO is a significant step towards addressing the modern issue of online trolling and promoting values of tolerance and stability in the region. By raising awareness and providing training to combat harmful ideas and misleading information spread through social media, the association is actively working towards safeguarding national achievements and countering malicious intent. The involvement of media institutions in this national campaign is crucial to addressing fake accounts that undermine societal values and incite chaos, ultimately contributing to a more secure and harmonious society.
