Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind top tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, has recently secured its second operating license for a water aerodrome from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). The license for Shebara Resort was handed over at The Red Sea destination by GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej to RSG’s Group CEO, John Pagano. Al-Duailej emphasized that this award is part of GACA’s aviation transformation program, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda to promote competition and investment in the sector. Through the Saudi Aviation Strategy, GACA is focusing on enhancing aviation infrastructure and connectivity, supporting major projects like Red Sea Global while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Pagano sees the license for Shebara Resort as a significant milestone towards opening the resort to the world. Located on Sheybarah Island, Shebara Resort is set to open its doors next month, offering guests a truly unique and luxurious escape. With RSG owning the Kingdom’s first seaplane airline and its only two water aerodromes, they are positioning themselves as leaders within tourism and aviation. The company previously secured Saudi Arabia’s first operating license for a water aerodrome at Ummahat Island, demonstrating their commitment to innovation and excellence in the industry.
In the first half of this year, RSG completed over 520 flights carrying more than 1,200 passengers using a fleet of Cessna aircraft. The company expects to transport 3,800 passengers by the end of 2024, showcasing the growing demand for their services. In 2023, RSG launched Fly Red Sea, the Kingdom’s first seaplane company and water aerodrome operator, further solidifying their position in the market. The Red Sea International Airport began receiving domestic flights in September 2023, with international flights commencing in April 2024, including a twice-weekly route to Dubai International Airport.
The aviation transformation program by GACA is driving unprecedented growth in the sector, supporting major projects like Red Sea Global with enhanced aviation infrastructure and connectivity while ensuring safety and quality standards. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda to boost competition and investment in the aviation industry. With the opening of Shebara Resort next month, RSG is set to offer guests a luxurious and unforgettable experience, arriving by seaplane to this iconic destination. As leaders within tourism and aviation, RSG is paving the way for innovative and unique travel experiences in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
Securing the operating license for Shebara Resort marks one of the final steps towards its grand opening, allowing guests to enjoy a peerless escape on Sheybarah Island. RSG’s commitment to excellence in aviation and tourism is evident through their innovative projects and partnerships, positioning them as industry leaders. With Fly Red Sea and the Red Sea International Airport already making waves in the market, RSG is poised for continued success and growth in the years to come. The company’s dedication to providing exceptional services and experiences to guests sets them apart in the industry, making them a preferred choice for travelers seeking luxury and adventure in the region.
