The Ministry of Culture and Qatar National Library (QNL) have announced the launch of a new reading space in Place Vendome Mall from August 29 to September 30. This initiative, led by QNL’s Qatar Reads program, aims to promote reading, book acquisition, and participation in children’s activities in a lively shopping and socializing environment. The goal is to create a welcoming space where individuals of all ages can engage in literature, conversations, and explore new interests.

Fatema Al Malki, Project Manager at Qatar Reads, expressed the importance of cultivating a deeper appreciation for literature and strengthening community bonds through this initiative. The reading space is meant to be a dynamic setting where individuals can immerse themselves in captivating books and join stimulating conversations on literature. Everyone is invited to participate in the programs offered by Qatar Reads during this valuable occasion.

Qatar Reads encourages the community to adopt a sustainable and innovative approach in their daily lives by making reading a habit. The initiative invites people to trade books, donate, and exchange books to make a positive impact on society. Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture, highlighted the ministry’s dedication to nurturing a vibrant reading culture in Qatar through various initiatives, including the reading space at Place Vendome Mall.

The activation at the reading space will feature activities such as donating used books to facilitate knowledge exchange among community members. Publications from the Ministry of Culture and Qatari publishers, including Dar Roza, Dar Al Watad, Dar Napjah, and Ktateeb, will be showcased during the event. The aim is to support cultural and intellectual production in the country and to highlight the role of Qatari publishers in contributing to the dissemination of local thought and creativity.

Through this initiative, everyone is encouraged to explore the joy of reading throughout the entire month and to spread the culture of reading into every aspect of daily life. The Ministry of Culture and Qatar National Library aim to enable individuals to access knowledge sources and foster a love for reading. The reading space at Place Vendome Mall is part of the ongoing efforts to promote reading and elevate the community, emphasizing the importance of literature and intellectual growth.
