The Cosmic Canvas-Space Art Exhibition currently taking place at the Al Thuraya Planetarium in Katara showcases the works of 21 artists, blending art and science to offer a unique perspective on the wonders of space. Running until September 20, 2024, the exhibition is part of the Katara Space and Science Programme 2024 organized by the Katara Cultural Village Foundation in collaboration with the International MAPS Foundation. The exhibition features works from 19 artists from Qatar, one from the United States, and one from Russia, each bringing their own creativity to capture the beauty of the cosmos. Many pieces are inspired by the James Webb Telescope programme, offering a fresh and insightful look at space exploration.
The exhibition also includes original prints from NASA that showcase the wonders of the cosmos, as well as holographic art by multimedia artist Mariam Hashemi Brian, providing visitors with new perspectives on space. Among the artworks on display is a striking oil painting titled ‘Deep Space Exploration’ by artist Muznah Hasnat, which illustrates the operation of the James Webb Telescope in space and showcases the beauty of galaxies. Additionally, astrophotographer Ajith Everester’s photograph of the Trifid Nebula, with a total exposure time of 15 hours, offers a breathtaking view of space collected from the Al Wukair area.
The 21 participating artists bring a diverse range of works to the exhibition, including Maryam Almaadhadi, Manoj Kumar, Noof Almerekhi, Aparna Mangalath Vijayakumar, and many others, showcasing their unique perspectives on the universe through their art.
