The Supreme Committee for General Supervision of the Safety of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives has set the deadline for candidates to withdraw from the by-election in the first constituency of Muharraq Governorate to be August 28th. Candidates who wish to withdraw have the right to do so by submitting a written notification on the designated form to the supervisory committee at least 10 days before the election date. This announcement comes after candidate Malallah Al Qahtani withdrew from the current by-election in Muharraq, citing a lack of time to prepare a comprehensive electoral programme.

After announcing his withdrawal from the race, Al Qahtani indicated that he plans to participate in the 2026 elections, although he did not specify whether he will be running for a municipal or parliamentary seat. The by-election in the first constituency of Muharraq is scheduled to take place on September 7th, giving other candidates who are still in the race time to prepare and campaign for the upcoming election. This development highlights the importance of adequate preparation and planning for candidates participating in elections to ensure a successful campaign.

The announcement of the deadline for candidates to withdraw from the by-election in Muharraq Governorate emphasizes the need for candidates to make informed decisions about their participation in the election process. With the deadline set for August 28th, candidates have a limited window of time to assess their readiness for the upcoming election and determine whether they wish to continue their candidacy. This decision-making process is crucial for candidates to consider various factors such as resources, support, and readiness to effectively campaign for the election.

Candidates who decide to withdraw from the election must adhere to the procedures set by the supervisory committee in order to officially remove themselves from the race. By submitting a written notification on the designated form, candidates can ensure that their withdrawal is processed in a timely and accurate manner, allowing the election process to proceed smoothly. This requirement highlights the importance of following established guidelines and procedures to maintain the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

The decision of candidate Malallah Al Qahtani to withdraw from the by-election in Muharraq due to a lack of time to prepare a comprehensive electoral programme underscores the challenges that candidates may face in participating in elections. Adequate time and resources are essential for candidates to develop and implement effective campaign strategies, engage with voters, and address key issues facing the constituency. By announcing his withdrawal, Al Qahtani has acknowledged the importance of proper planning and preparation to run a successful election campaign.

As the by-election in Muharraq approaches on September 7th, remaining candidates have the opportunity to focus on their campaign efforts and connect with voters in the constituency. The deadline for candidates to withdraw from the election serves as a reminder of the importance of careful consideration and strategic decision-making in the electoral process. By following the established procedures and guidelines, candidates can ensure a smooth and transparent election process that upholds the principles of democracy and accountability.
