North Al Batinah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman is attracting international attention for its investment opportunities and major economic projects, particularly in the Wilayat of Sohar. Recently, Alexei Bogdanov, Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade in the Republic of Belarus, visited the region to explore these opportunities. During his visit, Bogdanov met with Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Busaidi, Wali of Sohar, along with businessmen and directors of commercial establishments and ports in the governorate.

The meeting focused on providing Bogdanov and his delegation with a comprehensive overview of the current investment projects and future opportunities in key sectors such as ports, agriculture, fisheries, mining, petroleum, and converting industries at Sohar Port, the Free Zone, and Sohar Industrial City. The delegation also learned about the logistical services that support these projects, including the progress in establishing a railway network connecting Sohar to Abu Dhabi.

In addition to the economic aspects, the Belarusian delegation was briefed on the diverse heritage, environmental, cultural, and tourism attractions available in North Al Batinah Governorate. This highlights the region’s commitment to economic diversity and sustainable development, along with promoting its natural and cultural assets to attract visitors and investors alike.

During their visit to Sohar Port and Free Zone, Bogdanov and his delegation were given a detailed presentation on the major commercial and industrial projects taking place in the area. They learned about investment opportunities, land leasing options, and the various industries operating within the port and free zone, including energy, metals, and petrochemicals. The delegation was also informed about the incentives offered to investors and the efficient one-stop-shop system in place for streamlined business operations.

Overall, Bogdanov’s visit to North Al Batinah Governorate showcased the region’s promising investment climate and strategic location for international trade and commerce. The meeting with local authorities and business leaders provided valuable insights into the project opportunities available in Sohar and the supportive infrastructure and services that facilitate business growth. With its focus on economic diversification and sustainable development, the region is poised to attract more foreign investments and contribute to Oman’s overall economic prosperity.
