The Saudi Water Authority recently imposed fines totaling over SR1 million on 24 individuals for illegally connecting to water and sewage networks and tampering with meters. The violations were discovered and reported to the committee responsible for reviewing such infractions, resulting in the issuance of fines based on the Water Law. Specifically, the individuals were found to have violated specific articles related to illegal connections and damaging water equipment. The authority emphasized the importance of adhering to the Water Law and obtaining water and sanitation services through proper channels, while also warning against tampering with meters.

In order to crack down on such violations, the authority will continue to conduct regular inspection tours to identify illegal practices and take appropriate legal action against those found to be in violation of the Water Law. By enforcing these measures, the authority aims to regulate and supervise the water sector, protect the interests of beneficiaries, support the sustainability of water resources, and enhance water security in the country. Additionally, the authority’s strategy includes promoting compliance with laws and regulations in the water sector to ensure the provision of efficient and high-quality water services that meet international standards and align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The imposition of fines on individuals for illegal connections and tampering with water meters underscores the authority’s commitment to upholding the regulations outlined in the Water Law. By penalizing violators, the authority aims to deter others from engaging in similar activities, thus safeguarding the integrity of the water and sewage networks. Through its continued inspection efforts and enforcement of legal measures, the authority seeks to maintain the highest standards in the water sector and contribute to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives.

The authority’s focus on enhancing compliance with laws and regulations in the water sector is essential for ensuring the provision of high-quality services to the public. By monitoring and penalizing illegal activities such as unauthorized connections and meter tampering, the authority is taking proactive steps to protect water resources, promote sustainability, and maintain water security in the Kingdom. These efforts are in line with the overarching goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to drive economic growth and social development by implementing strategic initiatives across various sectors, including water management.

Overall, the Saudi Water Authority’s recent enforcement actions demonstrate its commitment to ensuring the proper regulation and supervision of the water sector in the country. By cracking down on violations of the Water Law, the authority is working to protect the interests of beneficiaries, promote sustainability, and enhance water security. Through its ongoing inspection tours and legal measures, the authority is sending a clear message that illegal activities related to water and sewage networks will not be tolerated, and that compliance with regulations is essential for the provision of high-quality water services in accordance with international standards.
