Dan Fogler, known for his role in Fantastic Beasts, is set to play Michael Uslan in a stage play based on his memoir, The Boy Who Loved Batman. The play will take place at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida, from October 1 to November 10. Uslan’s memoir chronicles his journey from a comic book enthusiast to a key figure in the world of Batman movies, starting with teaching a comic book class at Indiana University and working at DC Comics.

Uslan’s involvement with Batman movies began with Tim Burton’s 1989 film and continued through various adaptations such as Joker and Justice League. He expressed his excitement about Fogler taking on the role, praising his talent and enthusiasm for the material. Fogler, a Tony Award winner, is eager to return to the stage to portray Uslan and explore his passion for Batman and comic books from a young age.

Fogler’s personal connection to Batman as a life-changing experience in 1989 adds depth to his portrayal of Uslan in the play. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the play promises to have something for everyone, tapping into the heart of pop culture. Audiences can expect to laugh, cry, and develop an even greater appreciation for the character of Batman through Uslan’s story and Fogler’s performance on stage.

The collaboration between Fogler and Uslan brings together a shared love for the world of Batman, creating a unique and compelling theatrical experience for audiences. As the play delves into Uslan’s personal journey and his contributions to the Batman franchise, it sheds light on the impact of comic books and superheroes in popular culture. This production serves as a tribute to Uslan’s legacy and his influence on the iconic character of Batman in film.

Overall, the stage play based on Michael Uslan’s memoir, The Boy Who Loved Batman, offers a blend of entertainment, nostalgia, and insight into the creative process behind bringing a beloved superhero to life on screen. Through Fogler’s portrayal of Uslan, audiences can gain a deeper appreciation for the history and passion that fuel the world of Batman. The play’s run at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts provides a unique opportunity for fans of Batman and comic book enthusiasts to witness a captivating and heartfelt exploration of one man’s journey from fan to producer.
