The Ministry of Justice in Qatar has taken significant steps to streamline the real estate sector by licensing 610 real estate brokers, which reflects its success in curbing unlicensed brokers and market speculations. The list of licensed brokers along with their contact information and license numbers is readily available on the ministry’s website, making it convenient for property buyers and sellers to approach them for assistance. Doha Municipality leads the way with 340 licensed brokers, followed by Al Rayan Municipality with 163 licenses. Additionally, Umm Salal Municipality has 47 licensed brokers, Al Daayen Municipality has 32, Al Wakra Municipality has 16, Al Khor and Al Zakhira Municipality have 6, Al Shamal Municipality has 5, and Al Sheehaniya Municipality has 1 licensed broker.

Ibrahim Saleh Al Qadi, Head of the Control and Auditing Section of the Real Estate Brokers Department at the Ministry of Justice, emphasized the importance of having a license to operate as a real estate broker in Qatar. Interested candidates are required to submit applications along with necessary documents through the ministry’s website to obtain the license. Approved candidates undergo a training course at the Legal and Judicial Studies Center to familiarize themselves with the relevant laws and regulations. After completing the course, brokers take an oath in front of the Committee for Real Estate Brokers before paying fees and commencing work. The ministry issues licenses to both individuals and firms, with a focus on ensuring that written contracts are made between brokers and property owners or clients seeking brokerage services.

From August 11 to 15, 2024, the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice recorded a total real estate trading volume of QR164,585,647 through sales contracts. Additionally, the Real Estate Bulletin reported QR19,545,642 in sales contracts for residential units during the same period. The weekly bulletin highlights various real estate properties traded for sale, including vacant lands, houses, and residential units in municipalities such as Al Rayyan, Umm Slal, Doha, Al Khor and Al Dakhira, Al Wakrah, Al Daayen, Al Shamal, and in specific zones like the Pearl Island and Lusail 69, among others. This data underscores the continued activity and importance of the real estate sector in Qatar.

In conclusion, the licensing of real estate brokers by the Ministry of Justice plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and accountability within the real estate sector. By licensing brokers and providing a platform for buyers and sellers to connect with them easily, the ministry is working towards improving the overall reputation of the real estate market in the country. The strict regulations and training courses required for obtaining a license help to maintain standards and uphold the rights and duties of brokers and clients. The significant volume of real estate trading recorded in recent weeks further demonstrates the ongoing activity and interest in the real estate market in Qatar. With proper regulation and licensing, the ministry aims to foster a fair and thriving real estate sector that benefits all stakeholders involved.
