Meenakshi Seshadri, a former Bollywood actress, was spotted by her late neighbour, Rishi Kapoor, in the US a few years ago. She decided to return to India to re-enter the entertainment industry and realized the importance of having a digital footprint and a following. Her son provided constructive criticism which helped her with social media, although her daughter is not interested. Her social media channel is filled with dancing reels showcasing her talent.
At the peak of her career, Meenakshi made the decision to quit the industry and marry an investment banker, Harish Mysore. Life in the US was challenging initially, as she had to adjust to a new way of living. She and her husband considered finding opportunities in India but ultimately his career was in the US. Despite the challenges, Meenakshi found her time in the US to be a valuable experience that forced her out of her comfort zone and taught her self-sufficiency.
Meenakshi, who is trained in four classical dance forms, started teaching dance in the US at the request of friends. She learned music and dance from a young age and honed her skills before entering Bollywood at the age of 20. Now, she is looking to make a comeback with a new perspective and bring her years of experience to the dance floor with an item song performance.
Despite facing body shaming and age shaming, Meenakshi remains unapologetic about her choices and appearance. She believes that individuals should not be restricted by societal expectations and should be free to express themselves through their art. As she ages, she wants to challenge stereotypes and continue pursuing roles that are meaningful to her, rather than conforming to others’ ideals.
Meenakshi is back in India and adjusting to life in Pune. She has reconnected with friends from the industry and is looking for proper representation in the PR industry. She recently met Jackie Shroff, a longtime colleague, and plans to reconnect with more of her peers in the industry. Despite some initial challenges, Meenakshi is settling back into life in India and looking forward to the next chapter of her career.
Meenakshi has always admired the South Indian film industry for its efficiency, planning, and production value. She believes that the industry sets a high standard for content creation and star power, surpassing Bollywood in many aspects. She credits the Telugu industry in particular for its innovation and business acumen, and looks forward to seeing how the industry continues to evolve in the future.
