The Kingdom of Bahrain was recently represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS 3.0) in India. The summit focused on the theme of “An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future” with a session on “Global South and Global Governance” chaired by the Indian Minister of External Affairs. Discussions revolved around the reform of global institutions, access to finance and technology, and the importance of collective initiatives to address common issues.
The summit aimed to bring together countries from the Global South to share perspectives and priorities on a variety of topics. India previously hosted the 1st Voice of Global South Summit in 2023, with Bahrain being represented at the Energy Ministers’ session. The Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain also attended the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit in 2023, representing the Kingdom at the Concluding Leaders’ session hosted by the Indian Prime Minister.
The importance of multilateralism and the need for reform to revive its credibility were highlighted during the summit. Access to finance and technology was also emphasized as crucial for unlocking the development potential of countries in the Global South. The discussions focused on intensifying South-South interactions to strengthen interdependence and ensure that exposures and vulnerabilities are not exploited.
The participation of Bahrain at the Voice of Global South Summit demonstrates the Kingdom’s commitment to engaging with other countries in the Global South on important issues. The platform provides an opportunity for nations to collaborate, share ideas, and address common challenges collectively. Bahrain’s representation at the summit reflects its support for initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development and cooperation among countries in the Global South.

The Kingdom of Bahrain’s active participation in the summit highlights its dedication to working with other nations to address global issues and contribute to a sustainable future.
